The game will bear no resemblance to the Hudson version seen on the SNES, nor will it have any connection to the Mathew Broderick film by director David Kellogg (who also created Vanilla Ice's breakthrough film Cool as Ice) - maybe someday, a David Kellogg movie will make it to videogame, but then again, that's what we all said back in 1991 when Cool as Ice debuted. Inspector Gadget will be ready for release sometime around Christmas this year from Ubi Soft and LPS. Of course, if the game had held true to the series, Gadget wouldn't do a thing right, and the day would be saved by his dog Brain and the case be solved by Penny. In a nice twist, players can switch off in gameplay between Gadget, his brilliant niece Penny, and their faithful (and injury-prone) dog Brain. There are five worlds in the game (with four stages each), so there's plenty of time in this adventure for gamers to try all of Gadget's gadgets. The developers at RFX have got a good sense of the colors and characters, all the way down to the villains clearly visible in silly monster suits. Gadget's helicopter hat, spring arms, skate feet, hammer head, and other goofy gadgets will propel the superhero through all sorts of adventures.įrom what we've seen so far, the game holds true to the series. Due out around Christmastime, the Game Boy Color game will spotlight the series' humor, fun, and taking-it-in-the-noggin slapstick carried over into a platform game.
